While taking time for a breather, Gavin indulged me on some of the projects he is involved with. Rest assured, he is a passionate man when it comes to using his talents to benefit others. Here are a few of the projects that Gavin is involved in at present.
"There are two charities that I follow and support above all the rest, Cancer Research UK and Breast Cancer Care. I try to give as much support as possible to both of these charities, in whatever way I can. I suppose I follow these two in particular because my Nan died of cancer when I was only young, and knowing that over a quarter of women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lifetime."
"It all really started back in 2004, when I decided I wanted to do something to raise awareness of these illnesses. And doing what I do best seemed the best option. I set about planning the concert, lighting, sound, acts (who gave their time for free), venue, etc. In total, the organisation took around 5 months to complete, with rehearsals taking place along the way. I managed to persuade 3 artists to join me on stage for the concert 'Bring Me To life', and in doing so, we raised £250 on the night."
"It was originally only going to be a one off concert, but it proved so successful that we've carried on with it every year. And each year it just seems to get even better. I am currently in the process of organising a new concert for 2008 to raise even more money for my chosen charities."
"I am now beginning work on my new, and possibly last demo. I have been slowly writing the tracks over the past 6 months or so. I decided to take my time over this one as I wanted it to be my best and most personal album to date. It's going to have a little twist to it too. I've decide to record the demo myself at home, so I can take my time over it. Another small twist is that I will be collaborating with other artists on this demo, allowing the listener to experience a new side to my writing talent. It's hard enough writing a song for myself, but writing a duet is a whole new challenge."
" After I have finished recording 'This Is Me...', I shall be taking a small step out of the limelight to concentrate on working with other artists on other projects. I have been approached by several people to assist them with their own material and performances. But don't think for one minute that I'm stepping out of the spotlight completely. I will be promoting 'This Is Me...' as much as possible, as well as working on the next charity concert. There's always ideas going round in my head, so I'll never sit still long enough to actually take a break from the music scene."
